Introduction:
So you need to keep your optics clean? Sure - we all do.
Most have tried all kinds of concoctions including plain water, straight window cleaner, and other homebrew solutions.
What we are missing from this picture is a company that has created a tested and true lens cleaner.
So what do you use?
TechnoTronics has the answer.
Enter the "Lens Cleaner Plus" solutions.

Out of the box:
Techno was kind enough to send us some samples of their lens cleaners for evaluation.
They included the main solution for cleaning the optics, and a secondary solution for cleaning up any streaks or left over smudges.
When you purchase the kit - it comes with both solutions.
Instructions for use are on the bottles themselves and are easy to read and follow. They do say these cleaners are for optical glass only - not for using on mirrors. So if you have a refractor, corrector lens, or a bunch of dirty eyepieces that you need cleaned, this stuff is for you.
They also recommend you work in quadrants when cleaning your lenses so as to avoid streaks.

A partial list of ingredients are.

1. Isopropyl alcohol 99 % pure. To certain percentages,
2. Distilled water to certain percentages, FILTERED.!
3. Windex to certain percentages, FILTERED.!
4. A very important factor, is, all distilled water and Windex is filtered, to increase purity.
The per portions in which the ingredients are used is very critical.
There are 2 other ingredients, but this is the partial list.

Using the Solutions:
We tested the cleaning solution first on a small 60mm refractor lens and was very impressed.
It completely cleaned the lens, and left no marks behind. It also dried very quickly.
We didn't follow the "work in small areas or quadrants" rule they enforce, because the lens was so small.
So we then went to a larger project - the corrector lens on a UHTC Meade 8" Schmidt Newtonian LXD55 <gulp>! .
A bit nervous because of the UHTC coatings we went onward, but because the coatings are so touchy, we approached with caution.
The quadrants rule worked well when dealing with the larger 8” lens.

We cleaned the corrector in just under 3 minutes, and the results were great.
The solution left the lends clear with no left over residue and a lens fit for a showroom. We did use a small amount of the 'clean up' solution after cleaning the corrector because we had some minimal streaking. But the secondary solution took them off no problem.

Finally, we tried the solutions on our 20X60 Orion Binoculars.
Again, the solution went on well, and cleaned / dried well - and we didn't use the quadrant rule again thsi time.
We just applied the solution to our clean lens cloth and worked quickly but efficiently.

Conclusions:
To take the worry out of "what should I use" to clean your lenses well, this cleaning kit from Technotronics is a life saver.
For a small price of $10 plus shipping, you can essentially have a lifetime of lens cleaning solution (4 OZ OF SOLUTION).
It works well, cleans well, dries well, and is one of the best optical glass cleaners we've seen.
