Who are we?

LXD55.com is a website dedicated to the community of Amateur Astronomers who use the Meade LXD series telescope.
Astrophotos, News, Tips, Reviews, an active messageboard and more, can all be found here.

LXD55.com started in early April of 2002 with a small web site dedicated to the new LXD55 telescope line by Meade.
It soon became apparent by the growing number of users and the popularity of the LXD55 line, that the old home of LXD55.com - then known as "The LXD55 Portal" would have to be moved into a new home to accommodate the growth and to expand usability.

By Late 2002, LXD55.com took it's new home on the web and at that time the 'new' domain name of "LXD55.com".
Today, LXD55.com receives over 3.5 million hits , and over 400,000 unique visitors per year!

Our parent site is ScopeTrader.com which provides a free place to buy, sell, or auction Astronomy equipment.

This site is contributed to mostly by its members - (that's you).
By using the site to share and grow together - LXD55.com has become the premiere place on the web for anything LXD55 and other pertaining information.
LXD55.com has no affiliation with Meade Instruments Corp.

The site is developed, and maintained by Amateur Astronomer Richard Harris (that's me).
I've been an Amateur Astronomer since the early days of Jr. High when I received my first telescope as a Christmas gift from my parents. It was a Tasco 60mm refractor which I still have it today.

Like many, seeing the rings of Saturn for the first time from my front yard hooked me for life.
Since that time, I've spent much of my free time observing and studying the heavens and sharing it with other people, I'm now 37 years old and I'm an active member in the local Springfield Astronomy Club.
Apart from Astronomy, I have a full time profession in Information Technology.

I am the inventor and creator of the HyperTune™ Products and Services. The Trademarked HyperTune is known all over the world and I've been privlaged to work with many Astronomers and their equipment for almost 10 years now.

In addition, I'm also the author of a various technical writings on the Internet pertaining to computer technology, networking, and science, and I'd had the oppertunity to write for HardwareCentral.com , NeoSeeker.com, 8wire.com, TomsHardwareGuide.com, among others. I hold the A+, BB, MCSE+I, and MCSD Certifications by Microsoft.
I published book entitled "Breaking Into Computer Repair" in 2000, which can be seen here.

Finally, I dove into working with free energy devices in 2007 and now also hold a patent for a Pure Hydrogen Generator which I'm very proud of. It is currently in the final stages of commercial manufacturing and I hope we can bring it to market by the Summer of 2009.

That's it, that's me!
I hope you enjoy the LXD experience, and use this website along with the host of other sites I develop for the spread of Astronomy.
